Mattress Toppers - Yes or No?
Mattress toppers and pads become more and more attractive for customers.
And they have grounds for that.
First of all, toppers and pads are not so expencive as a new mattress, which often costs about $1,000. Still topper or pad has many advantages of a new mattress but for much less money. And for this price you get almost new comfortable bed, which life will last for months or even years.
Mattress topper can also solve one more problem. If the partner you sleep with has different firmness preference, a topper can be placed from just one side. And this way both of you will get the firmness that satisfies and you won't need to sleep on separate beds. And one more positive point: a topper or pad allows you to try out mattress material. So you can make sure if you would like the entire mattress from this topper material.
But still everything has its negative side. And toppers are not an exception.
A lot of topper and pad owners come across fitting problems, as they find it hard to fit the topper properly to their beds. And it doesn't always mean that the size of a topper will be equivalent to the size of a mattress. This way it also can slide or move around on its own, even if secured.
There's one more disadvantage and it is partial effectiveness. Of couse, a topper or a pad can improve an aging mattress, but still it has limits.
If your mattress is in a hopeless condition with awful holes and popping springs, then the topper or pad can be only limited help.
